They're
back. The Ex-Husbands new album is titled "All Gussied Up,"
and contains 13 swaggering, brand new tracks, along with a cover of Bill
Monroe's "Uncle Pen," and 2 tracks featuring a drunk preacher's
sermon. What more could you ask for? Singer/guitarist/songwriter Anders
Thomsen, the object of so many ladies affections, backs up the Gussy-ness
with an unforgettable, booming country baritone and a couple of hands
which were built specifically for the Telecaster. Michael Howard Smith
bangs the drums and looks perfect, as usual. Mark Miller, in addition
to making his singing debut here ("Flat Broke in Hoboken," "All is Fair"),
is about a killer a bass player and joker that you'll find, and every
now and then he'll have a beer with you and let out a yelp.

It's
been a lucky 13 years since the Lonesome Brothers formed in Northampton,
MA, they have become the region's most beloved band, hands down. Jim
Armenti, (who has written and performed with Cheri Knight, and also
plays clarinet in a Klezmer band!), Ray Mason (the godfather of
western Massachusetts rock 'n' roll!) and Bob Grant (drummer extrordinairre
and game designer) blend the elements of pop, the brashness of rock, the
quirkiness of bands like NRBQ and Commander Cody, and a little dash of
honky-tonk on their brand new album, "Diesel Therapy," which
features backing vocals by Cheri Knight. See why they're such a
well-kept secret up in our little nook of the country.

Ray Mason. Mr. Nice Guy. Mr. Ray Mason. We're extremely proud to
announce this collection of songs in tribute to the legendary godfather
of the New England music scene. The album, which is available now, features
all new tracks by heavy-hitter names such as the Ass Ponys, Cheri Knight,
Charlie Chesterman, and Eric Ambel. In addition to our very own Angry
Johnny & The Killbillies, King Radio make an appearance
also! Countless numbers of Boston/Northampton musicians who consider Ray
Mason a mentor and a special friend also make appearances: The Incredible
Casuals (features NRBQ member Joey Spampinato), The Gutterbirds (including
Ray's Lonesome Brothers bandmate Jim Armenti), Tom Shea, Jim Weeks, The
Bamboo Steamers, and Pete Weiss & The Rock Band all pay tribute. We're
truly honored to be a part of this, and we hope that you'll enjoy this
great album.

Like a blast of air to an exposed cavity comes Man, It's Cold,
the second album from Martin's Folly. With creepier creeping, it's Martin's
Folly all over again, only more so. On the frozen banks of the mighty
Hudson, as ice flows plied the midwinter current, Martin's Folly and producer
Eric "Roscoe" Ambel huddled in a barn and endeavored to isolate the essential
activating agent of this music. A live, stripped-down, Wurlitzer piano
laced sound was called for, and the breakdown into elements was, for the
most part, affirmative. It's a place and time hereby made replicable,
and the response of a natural organism. Maybe even yours.

Truly
one of the world's most demented bands. Their new album, "What's So Funny?"
has already been written about in a Billboard column and has been reviewed
in Entertainment Weekly. Country, punk rock and dixieland all collide as
screaming guitars, lap steel, banjo, trombone, tuba, accordion and sax come
together to make this album one heckuva listen. Throw in Angry Johnny's
proflific, warped, disturbing songwriting, electric guitar by Eric "Roscoe"
Ambel (Bottle Rockets, Blue Mountain) and the horn section of Steve Westfield's
Slow Band, and you've got a band and an album that's poised to break all
barriers and astonish both the most jaded critics and music fans.
